Jade Dynasty Glossary
A reference guide to terms you'll come across on Jade Dynasty private servers. Each entry briefly explains what a term means and how it affects your choice of server and how you play on it. Terms link to related ones, and you can jump straight from an article to matching servers.
- Factions (Classes)
- In Jade Dynasty, your character's role is defined by its faction — the game's term for class. Humans have six: Jadeon (ranged mage), Skysong (healer and support), Vim, Lupin, Modo and Incense. There are also semi-divine tribes called Athan with their own factions. A human character starts as an Initiate and picks a faction at level fifteen. The faction sets your combat style and role in a group, making it a key decision when creating a character. Related: Athan (Demigods), Esper, Ascension
- Athan (Demigods)
- Athan are the semi-divine tribes of Jade Dynasty, set apart from the human factions; they have their own faction-classes, such as Balo (a sturdy melee fighter wielding axes). Unlike humans, Athan characters play as their faction from level one. On older private servers Athan were sometimes missing due to expansion licensing, while newer projects support them, so it's worth checking Athan availability when choosing a server. - Esper
- Esper is Jade Dynasty's signature companion item, granting your character bonus skills and stats along with an auto-combat feature for farming experience and items. An Esper grows stronger as its abilities are used, changing appearance and gaining power over time. It's one of the game's most recognizable features and noticeably affects how comfortable leveling feels. Esper and auto-combat settings can differ between private servers, so they're worth checking before you pick one. Related: Factions (Classes), Ascension
- Ascension
- Ascension is Jade Dynasty's core endgame system, working like a "new game plus": your character resets to level fifteen but gains higher stats when leveling up again and raises the level cap. It becomes available at high levels and lets you switch faction within your race upon ascending. Ascension has a major impact on endgame character power, so its settings are an important part of a server's balance. Related: Factions (Classes), Affinity, Chroma
- Affinity
- Affinity is a Jade Dynasty progression system that unlocks after Ascension at a high level, offering a choice of one of several paths, each granting extra skills and opening a dedicated farming zone. Affinity is the next layer of progress after ascending, deepening a character's specialization. Path availability and balance vary between private servers, so it's worth checking when planning your endgame. Related: Ascension, Chroma
- Chroma
- Chroma is another layer of Jade Dynasty progression, unlocking after choosing an Affinity at a high ascension level. By raising Chroma levels with special items, your character gains new skills and stat bonuses. Chroma is one of the endgame progression peaks, defining the power of top characters. Item availability for Chroma is set independently on each private server, so it's worth checking this mechanic when choosing one. Related: Affinity, Ascension
- Versions
- A version is a Jade Dynasty client release that defines the set of factions, zones, systems and balance. The private server scene features several versions, and you can only connect using the client that matches the server. The version is always listed in a project's description, since it determines exactly which flavor of the game and which content you'll be playing, including the availability of Athan and later progression systems. - Classic Servers
- Classic servers are Jade Dynasty private servers that recreate early versions of the game with familiar balance and fewer systems. They're chosen by players who prefer the old-school feel of the first years over later content with expanded progression layers. The Classic label in a description helps tell such servers apart from projects on modern versions with the full faction roster, Athan and advanced systems like Affinity and Chroma. - Reborn
- Reborn is a common name for Jade Dynasty private servers and builds that update the classic game — often with the full race roster, the ability to switch class on ascension, and restored content. Such projects aim to deliver a modern, polished experience built on the original. The Reborn label in a description signals that a server offers not strict classic gameplay but an expanded, refined version of the game. Related: Classic Servers, Ascension
- PvP
- PvP (player versus player) means fights between players rather than against monsters. In Jade Dynasty, PvP includes duels, open-world clashes, and faction and guild conflicts. Servers focused on PvP prioritize frequent skirmishes and a competitive endgame. If you're after fighting real opponents, look for projects with an active PvP community and balanced factions. - PvE
- PvE (player versus environment) means playing against the world — monsters, bosses and quests — rather than other players. In Jade Dynasty, PvE covers leveling (including via Esper auto-combat), zone farming, and preparing for ascension. While many players value the game for its PvP, PvE remains the backbone of character development, so leveling pace and zone variety matter when choosing a server that fits your playstyle. - Fun Servers
- Fun servers in Jade Dynasty are projects with heavily accelerated leveling and high rates, where you reach endgame and PvP almost immediately, skipping the long grind. They're chosen by players who value fast action and entertainment over gradual progression. The fun label in a description helps distinguish these servers from classic and low-rate projects aimed at steadily working through content. - Rates (x1, x50, x1000)
- Rates are multipliers for experience, drop and currency gain compared to the official game. A low-rate server keeps slow progression close to the original; a high-rate server quickly gets you to ascension, endgame and PvP. Rates are one of the main factors players use to pick a server, so they're listed prominently in a description, alongside the version and project type. - International Server
- An international Jade Dynasty server targets players from different countries: the interface and communication are usually in English, and the community gathers from around the world. Such projects tend to keep a more stable population thanks to their broad reach. If you're after a server with an international audience and English-language support, this label helps you tell it apart from local projects aimed at a single country or region. - Jade Dynasty Private Server
- A private server is a project run by a team of enthusiasts outside the game's official infrastructure. Since the official Jade Dynasty was shut down, private servers became the main way to play it. They set their own version, rates, faction roster and progression systems, so projects vary widely — from classic recreations to expanded Reborn builds — which is exactly what to look at when choosing one.
